Peter Guth graduated Vienna Academy of Music (class of violin), and then three years was studying with David Oistrakh at the Moscow Conservatory.

At present time P. Guth is a well-known Austrian violinist and conductor touring in many countries of the world and performing with famous symphony orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo, the San Francisco Symphony, academic orchestra of St. Petersburg academic Philharmonic named after D.D. Shostakovich, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich.

In 1978 Peter Guth has founded in Vienna Strauss Festival Orchestra. His work with this company has put the conductor in the rank of prominent specialists of contemporary interpretation of music of “the king of waltz”. On his concerts he performs not only as a conductor, but also as solo violinist. Authentic interpretation of classic Viennese music has brought the orchestra world fame.

He has accompanied many prominent vocal-soloists, was music director of the first Vienna Operetta Festival in Japan and conducted new operetta-productions at international opera houses, as well as his own TV-adaptations of operettas for RTVE in Madrid.

From his pen came few books devoted to contemporary violin performing and he has made considerable number of CD-recordings most of which is marked by prestigious international prizes.

From September of 2007 Peter Guth is Chief invited conductor of Saint-Petersburg theatre of Musical comedy.
