Nikitenko Valery Efremovich
National artist of Russia

He was born in Ukraine in the town Ovruch. In 1957 he entered the Institute of theatre art named after I. Karpenko-Karoy, the department “Actor of drama and cinema” (course of I. Chebonenko). In 1961 after graduation from the institute during one season he has worked in Crimea state theatre named after M. Gorkiy.

In 1962 he was invited by N.P. Akimov to the company of Leningrad Academic Comedy Theatre. Soon he achieved one of the leading positions in the theatre company and became very popular among the audience. He has performed numerous roles and gained fame as permanent participant and author of famous “Akimov skits” of the theatre.

V.E. Nikitenko has acted in films a lot. Among his the most important roles there are: “Snowqueen” (director G.S. Kazansky), “State criminal” (director N.V. Rozantsev), “Three rainy days” (L.I. Tzutzulkovsky).

From 2005 he was invited to Saint-Petersburg Musical Comedy Theatre for participation in the performances. Nowadays his repertoire includes: “The Merry Widow” by F. Lehar (Baron Zeta), “My dear friend!” by V. Lebedev (Larosh-Matie), “Silva” by I. Kalman (Leopold), “Baroness Lili” by J. Huszka (baron Malomszegi), Weps (“The Bird Seller” by C. Zeller), King (“Madame Pompadour” by L. Fall), Irzhi Svoboda ("Spring Parade" R. Stolz), First gunman-enforcer ("Kiss me, Kate!" C. Porter), Elpifidor ("The Bondmaid" N. Strelnikov), Boatswain ("Sevastopol waltz" K. Listov).
